Calm Restored in Tajoura Following Armed Clashes: Mediation Efforts and Humanitarian Impact

In Tajoura, a mediation meeting between local dignitaries, elders, and leaders of security and military forces successfully resulted in an agreement to resolve the conflict between the Rahbat al-Durou’ and Shahida Sabria brigades. Both factions have begun to return to their bases and withdraw armed presence from streets and main roads.

The agreement followed several hours of armed clashes involving light and medium weapons. Sources confirmed a civilian casualty, with a woman succumbing to a gunshot wound to the head. Significant material damage was reported, including to the tire factory in Tajoura.

The conflict stemmed from an incident in which a Rahbat al-Durou’ brigade member was killed and another injured in an altercation with a member of the Shahida Sabria brigade. The violence peaked around 8 PM, prompting residents, particularly near the “Taj Mall” area, to demand an end to the fighting and the creation of safe passageways.

Emergency services worked to evacuate civilians from the conflict zones, though official statements on the final casualty count have yet to be released.

This ceasefire agreement follows previous unsuccessful mediation attempts. Authorities continue to monitor the situation in Tajoura to ensure lasting peace and a return to normalcy for its residents.
