Khalifa Haftar, Commander of the General Command, has vehemently denied allegations of his forces’ involvement in the Sudanese conflict, affirming his support for Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity. This statement was made during a meeting held on the occasion of Eid al-Adha with senior military leaders, including Chief of Staff Abdul Razzaq Al-Nazouri.
Haftar’s remarks come in response to accusations made by Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Al-Harith Idris, who claimed that the “106th Brigade” led by Haftar’s son, Khalid Haftar, was involved in supplying ammunition and mortar shells to the “Rapid Support Forces” militia through the border town of Kufra.
Haftar dismissed what he described as “lies and malicious information” regarding his forces’ alleged connections with any party in the Sudanese conflict, calling on Sudanese parties to cease fighting and resort to reason.
Regarding the situation in Libya, Haftar noted tangible achievements in enhancing security, stability, and national reconciliation. He emphasized the need for tribal elders and notables to take the initiative in uniting Libyans, insisting that solutions must come from within the country rather than from external sources.
Haftar reiterated his commitment to building a strong, professional Libyan army, underscoring a policy of non-interference in the affairs of other nations. He called for strengthening good neighborly relations based on mutual respect to ensure regional security and stability.
