Libya and Chad Sign Agreement on Repatriation and Regularization of Irregular Migrants

Libyan Interior Minister Imad Trabelsi signed an agreement with his Chadian counterpart, Mohamed Merghouy, to repatriate and regularize the status of Chadian irregular migrants in Libya. The agreement, reached following the Migration Forum, outlines the conditions and procedures for identifying and registering Chadian residents in Libya.

Under the agreement, Chadians wishing to return voluntarily to Chad will receive logistical and financial assistance from both the Libyan and Chadian governments. Additionally, the agreement includes the establishment of programs to facilitate their return and reintegration in Chad.

A joint committee will be formed to monitor and evaluate the progress of the agreement’s implementation, with regular meetings to address any arising issues.
