In a significant development, Tripoli’s Souq Al-Jumaa area witnessed a reconciliation meeting yesterday, addressing several vital issues concerning the region and its residents. The lengthy meeting, which lasted for hours, tackled various pivotal matters.
The meeting discussed mediation efforts between the 444th Brigade and the Deterrence Apparatus. Negotiations on this front are ongoing. Notably, according to a senior municipal source, a reconciliation between the leaders of both units was announced during the meeting, following a period of conflict and security tensions.
Prior meetings leading up to Saturday saw the participation of several prominent figures, including Ayoub Bouras, commander of the Tripoli Revolutionaries Battalion, and Mustafa Qaddur, former deputy head of the intelligence agency, who had left Tripoli during the clashes that occurred when Fathi Bashagha attempted to enter the city.
The meeting focused heavily on community reconciliation, with special attention given to the return of displaced persons. In this context, it was announced that Abdul Majid Falaqa, known as “Al-Murabba,” had returned to his family in the Ghararat area, and his brother Abdul Bari Falaqa was released.
The meeting also addressed infrastructure problems and stalled projects in the area. Efforts to improve basic services for residents were discussed.
The meeting praised the cooperation between the “Souq Al-Jumaa Youth Movement” and the Deterrence Apparatus in addressing several issues of concern to residents. These include the treatment of cancer patients in the area and prisoner issues, with ongoing work to review the cases of some prisoners and detainees nearing the end of their sentences, aiming to resolve them according to applicable legislation.
It’s worth noting that the meeting did not delve into political topics, focusing instead on local and social issues. These developments are seen as steps towards enhancing stability and reconciliation in the area following a period of tensions. Efforts are expected to continue in implementing the agreements reached during this meeting.
