State Council Decides to Participate in Tripartite Presidential Dialogue, Authorizes Representation

The High Council of State convened in its 100th general session today, addressing several national issues, notably the upcoming dialogue among the heads of the three councils and the dispute between the General Authority for Awqaf and the Higher Council of Ibadiyya.

Naima Al-Hami, a member of the High Council of State, revealed to Fawasel that the council has authorized its president Mohamed Tekala to participate in the dialogue with the heads of the House of Representatives and the Presidential Council, scheduled to take place in Cairo. Opinions within the council varied, with some advocating for the dialogue to be held on Libyan soil, while others suggested Morocco or Cairo for security reasons.

The council also decided, during its session, to form a committee to draft a statement in response to the Waqf Authority’s statement regarding the Higher Council of Ibadiyya.

Additionally, the session discussed a proposal to amend Law No. 59 of 2012 concerning the local administration system, concluding to continue discussions between the specialized committee, the parliamentary legal committee, and relevant authorities, with a recommendation to revert to the provincial system.
