UN Envoy Khouri to Deliver Debut Briefing to Security Council on Libya

The United Nations Security Council is set to convene on Tuesday to deliberate over the situations in Ukraine and Sudan. However, tomorrow’s agenda will shift its focus to Libya when an open briefing, trailed by closed-door consultations, is scheduled to take place.

The pivotal item on Wednesday’s docket is the briefing by Stephanie Khouri, the Acting Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya. In her inaugural address to the Security Council, Khouri will provide an update on the latest political, security, and humanitarian developments unfolding in Libya.

Complementing Khouri’s briefing will be a report from Ambassador Yamazaki Kazuyuki of Japan, who chairs the International Sanctions Committee on Libya. Kazuyuki is expected to apprise the Council on the Committee’s recent activities concerning the Libyan crisis.
