Italian-Libyan Team Completes Restoration of Villa Silene at Leptis Magna

A joint team from the Department of Antiquities and Roma Tre University has continued restoration work on the “Villa Silene” at the Leptis Magna archaeological site. The project focuses on restoring critically deteriorated walls and mitigating further risks of decay.
Villa Silene, an ancient Roman retreat, was discovered in 1974 by an Italian engineer. Located in the Sileen area of Al-Khums city, the villa is one of the luxurious estates built by wealthy Romans outside city walls. It features 46 rooms arranged around three sides of a large courtyard, overlooking the sea.
